Professor Zhang Wenguang Attends the Colloquium on the Revision of the Maritime Law

The Colloquium on the Revision of the Maritime Law, organized by China Maritime Law Association, was held in Beijing on November 28, 2018. The seminar, aimed at pooling the wisdom of maritime law experts, putting forward suggestions on the revision of the law to the Ministry of Transportation, and promoting the development of the maritime law in China, was attended by over 20 experts and scholars from the relevant academic, practical, and business circles.

Professor Zhang Wenguang, an associate research fellow at the CASS Institute of International Law, attended the colloquium and gave a speech, in which he put forward his opinions and suggestions on suchkey issues in the revision of the Maritime Law as whether inland water transportation should be covered by the Maritime Law; whether a special chapter on compensation for vessel-source pollution damages should be added to the Maritime law; whether parties entrusted by a carrier or receiving party to engage in the operation of goods in a harbor should be covered by the Maritime Law; whether the issue of time charter party should be provided for in Chapter 7 of the Maritime Law; whether the limit of liability for compensation should be raised, etc.
