Professor Li Buyun, an honorary member of CASS Academic Committee and a doctoral supervisor at CASS Law Institute, gave an academic lecture entitled“the Advancement of the Rule of Law in China: Retrospect and Prospect”at Beijing International Studies University on April 22, 2019. The lecture was presided over by Professor Meng Fanzhe, Vice Dean of the College of Marxism of the University, and attended by over 100 students and teachers from the college.

In the lecture, Professor Li reviewed the process of construction of democracy and the rule of law in China during the 40 years since the reform and opening-up by taking the process of implementation of the strategy of ruling the country by law and his own research on the rule of law as the basis and the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee as the starting point, analyzed the profound connotation and the evolution process of the strategy of ruling the country by law, looked into the future of construction of democracy and the rule of law, and described a blueprint of mutual promotion and continuous development of the rule of law, democratic politics and social civiliation in China. Aftr the lecture, Professor Li answered the questions raised by the audience.
