The Second Roundtable on Maritime Rule of Law Held in Beijing

The Second Roundtable on Maritime Rule of Law, sponsored by CASS Institute of International Law and organized by the ”Belt and Road” Judicial Research Base, was held in Beijing on April 19, 2019. The roundtable was attended by over 60 representatives from the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Transportation, CASS, the Higher People’s Court of Shanghai Municipality, the People’s Procuratorate of Shanghai Municipality, the Maritime Court of Tianjin Municipality, the Maritime Court of Shanghai Municipality, the Maritime Court of Tsingdao City, the Maritime Court of Wuhan Municipality, the Maritime Court of Ningbo City, the Maritime Court of Guangzhou City, Shanghai Bureau of Maritime Affairs, China Diving & Salvage Contractors Association, China Maritime Law Association, Yangtze River Maritime Law Society, China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University, Peking University Press, East China University of Political Science and Law, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Technology and Business University, Ningbo University, China Shipowners' Association, Shipowners’ Mutual Assurance Association, and other relevant state organs, industrial organizations, research institutions, insurance companies, enterprises, and law firms. At the roundtable, the participants carried out heated discussions around various issues relating to legislation on and practice of liability for pollution damage by ship.
