Dr. Zhou Hui Attends a Series of Academic Activities in the US

On February 25-March 3, 2019, Dr. Zhou Hui, an assistant research fellow at CASS Law Institute and the Deputy Secretary-general of Cyber and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society, visited San Francisco, US, where he attended a series of academic activities.

On the afternoon of February 25, 2019, Dr. Zhou Hui, visited Google Company to investigate the basic situation and latest trend of protection of personal information by the company.

On the morning of February 26, Dr. Zhou attended the seminar “Legislation on Privacy and Data Protection: a Comparison between US and China”. On the afternoon, he visited Baker & McKenzie Law Firm and exchanged opinions with Mr. Lothrar Determann, the director of the law firm, on the practice of protection of privacy and cybersecurity in US and Chinese.

 

On February 27, Dr. Zhou attended the seminar “the Overall Framework of Protection of Privacy and Cybersecurity in US and China and the Trend of Future Development” at Stanford University and gave a keynote speech entitled “From Disperson to Unity: Legislation on the Protection of Personal Information in China” at the seminar.

 

On February 28, Dr. Zhou attended the Roundtable on the Protection of Privacy in China and the US” at the Mission Bay Conference Center of the University of San Francisco and gave a keynote speech entitled “Legal Issues in the Development of AI and Its Regulation” at the roundtable. After the roundtable, he visited TrustArc, a famous personal information assessment agency in US, to investigate its personal information assessment mechanism and its operation.

  

On March 1, Dr. Zhou attended the seminar on “Privacy and Cybersecurity Frameworks in US and China: Cross-border Alignment and Compliance” and gave a keynote speech on the standardized legislative framework and standard-making in the field of protection of personal information at the seminar.
