Professor Liao Fan, a research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law, was interviewed by CGTN (China Global Television Network) program China 24 on December 10, 2018 about the detention by the Canadian Government of Ms. Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. In the interview, Professor Liao explained and commented on the incident mainly from the following three perspectives: the legal basis and the reasonableness of the legal actions, including the extradition request, taken by the US against Ms. Meng; the potential impact of the incident on the relationships between China, US and Canada; and the follow-up countermeasures by the Chinese government and Huawei.
