The Seminar on “Ruling the Country by Constitution and Advancing the Work of Constitutional Review” was successfully held at the conference room of CASS Law Institute on October 13, 2018. The seminar,organized by CASS Law Institute in celebration of the 60th anniversary of its establishment, wasattended by about 60 experts and scholars from universities and research institutions, as well as officials from central and local legislative and government organs, including the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, the Ministry of Justice, the People’s Congress of Beijing Municipality, and the People’s Congress of Shanghai Municipality.

The seminar was divided into the following four units: theory and practice of ruling the country by law; theory and practice of constitutional review; the relationship between the Constitution and branch laws; and constitutional review from the perspective of comparative law. At the seminar, the participants carried out in-depth, comprehensive and systematic theoretical explorations of various hot issues relating to the current work of construction of the rule of law in China that have cause widespread concerns in the theoretical and practical circles in light of the value requirements and institutional objectives of the strategy of “ruling the country by the constitution”.
