The Seminar on the Title of Property Law of the Chinese Civil Code, sponsored by CASS Law Institute and organized by the School of Civil and Commercial Law of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, was held in the city of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province on September 15, 2018. The seminar was attended by over 20 scholars, including Professor Sun Xianzhong, Professor Zhu Guangxing, Professor Dou Haiyang and Dr. Liu Yuhan from CASS Law Institute, and over 20 teachers from various departments of the Civil and Commercial Law School of Northwest University of Political Science and Law.

At the seminar,presided over by Professor Zhang Xiang, Dean of the Civil and Commercial Law School of Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Professor Sun gave a speech in which heconfirmed the important significance of (Draft) Title of Property Law of the China Civil Code to the construction of the rule of law in China while at the same time pointing out some practical problems in the compilation of the draft law including those relating to public law legal person, the status and nature of rural collective economic organizations,the ownership of legal person, real right for usufruct, right of residence, pledge and guarantee, and guarantee and occupation of movable property.After the lecture, the participants put forward their opinions on each article of the draft law, which were carefully recorded byProfessor Sun in his notebook and will be submitted to the relevant legislative organs for their reference in the further deliberation of the draft law.
