Han Yanlong

      Han Yanlong, male, Han nationality, born on 6 August 1934 in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. He studied at the First Middle School of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, between 1948 and 1954, during which period he had been the chairman of the Student Assocation of Xuzhou City, vice-chairman of the Student Association of Jiangsu Province and a deputy to the first district people's congress. He was admitted by the Law School of Leningrad University in 1955, and graduated from the University in 1960 with excellency. He has been working as a researcher at the CASS Law Institute since October 1960. Currently he is a research fellow and member of the Academic Committee of CASS Law Institute; doctoral supervisor and Dean of the Law Faculty and vice-chairman of the Committee for the Affirmation of Degree of CASS Graduate School. His other professional affiliations include: executive chairman, China Association of Legal History; council member, Association for the Research on Cross-Straight Legal Issues; part-time researcher, China University of Political Science and Law; part-time professor, Anhui University and Shenyang Normal College; consultant, Kehua Law Firm; consultant, China Legal Consultation Center. He had been mainly engaged in the study of the history of political and legal thoughts and legal theory and published a number of articles including: The Political Thoughts of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and On the Nature of Law. After the Cultural Revolution, he participated in the work of setting things right in the law circle and published many relevant articles. Then, based on the materials he had collected in the previous years, he began the research on Chinese legal history, mainly modern legal history. In recent years, he has also been engaged in the research of human rights theories. He has been in charge of many Scial Sciences Fundation projects and CASS key projects.
