BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese law enforcement agencies were told to improve their ability to detect threats to social stability at a meeting held here Monday, according to a statement published Tuesday.

Law enforcement agencies should build their capacity and try every effort to prevent minor incidents from deteriorating, said the statement from the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The country will also improve its assessing of risks and threats concerning social stability and the ability to quickly respond to major emergencies, the statement said.
